Shalom. Our teaching this morning will continue from Torah, GOD’S Laws that are written in The Law Of Moses, from the verses of Leviticus 7.11-21. And the Title of our message is, “What Does The LORD Mean When He Says, “Even That Soul Shall Be Cut Off From His People”?
So with that said, let’s read Leviticus 7.11-21.
VERSE 11 the law of the sacrifice of peace offerings is the law of a voluntary offering to The LORD for thanksgiving, giving thanks to The LORD.
The Hebrew word for law, as in the law of the sacrifice of peace offerings is Torah. Meaning that GOD’S Laws and Instructions must be followed concerning the sacrifice of the peace offerings, the sacrifice of the trespass offering, Leviticus 7.1, and the sacrifice of the sin offering, Leviticus 6.25. And the law of these offerings is critical to keep in mind because the same laws that applied to the animal sacrifices apply to our relationship with The Messiah Yeshua, Who gave Himself for us as an offering and a sacrifice to GOD to atone for our sins. GOD’S Laws of the sacrifice are of serious importance because GOD’S laws never change nor do they end. MATTHEW 5.18, EPHESIANS 5.1-2, HEBREWS 9.26
VERSES 16-17 If the sacrifice of peace offering was for a vow, that is to say a promise to GOD, or a voluntary offering by an individual, The LORD commanded that the meat of the sacrificed animal be eaten the same day it was offered. And the remainder eaten the following day. But on the third day, any remaining meat from the sacrificed animal was to be burned with fire.
VERSE 18 And if any meat of the peace offering was eaten on the third day, the sacrifice was not accepted by The LORD, nor was it counted as a sacrifice, but rejected. It was an abomination to The LORD, and the person who ate it was guilty of sin and bore his iniquity.
VERSE 19 And the meat of the sacrifice that touched anything unclean according to Torah written in Leviticus 11 and Deuteronomy 14, or anything impure according to Torah such as touching a dead body or touching anything that was in contact with menstruation, that meat of the sacrifice was not to be eaten but burned with fire. And only the Clean, that is the Holy Person was allowed to eat the meat of the sacrifice. A Clean or Holy Person is obedient to GOD obeying GOD’S Torah, His Law of Moses. Clean in Hebrew is TAH’HOR meaning Clean, Pure and Holy. Today, the Holy Person is like Messiah Yeshua, obeying GOD and His Laws that are written in The Law of Moses together with your faith in Messiah Yeshua.
VERSE 20 But the person who is in the state of uncleanness, that is a person who is unholy, ungodly, disobedient to GOD, not living in accordance to GOD’S Laws that are written in The Law of Moses, and eats the flesh from The LORD’S sacrifice of peace offerings, GOD says, even that person shall be Cut Off from His people.
VERSE 21 And if the person eating the meat of the sacrifice of peace offerings touches any unclean thing, being human uncleanness or any unclean animal, or any abominable unclean creature that is described in Leviticus 11 and Deuteronomy 14, and eats the meat of The LORD’S sacrifice, that person shall be Cut Off from his people. All very serious business when applied to your relationship with Messiah Yeshua Who is your Sacrifice for sin and peace.
So I decided to look into the meaning of these two words, Cut Off, and they’re not pretty. Cut Off in Hebrew is KAH’RAHT meaning destroyed by death, or removed by death inflicted by GOD.
And being Cut Off by GOD, and being removed by death is because of disobedience. Disobedience to GOD’S Laws that are written in The Law of Moses. Except in the case of Messiah Yeshua Who was Cut Off out of the land of the living for the transgression of His people was He stricken. ISAIAH 53.8
The Hebrew for Cut Off in this passage is GAH’ZAHR that also means killed and destroyed. And interestingly, this Hebrew word for Cut Off also means decree. That is, Messiah Yeshua’s death was according to law, GOD’S Law, foreordained by GOD by His decree.
But other occasions of being Cut Off by The LORD GOD are because of disobedience to GOD. Disobeying His Torah that contain all His Laws in The Law of Moses. Thus the Bible teaches us to Fear GOD, and Keep His Commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. Follow those instructions and you will never be Cut Off by The LORD Your GOD. ECCLESIASTES 12.13
GOD said He will not cut off all humanity by the waters of a flood. Remember, GOD brought on the flood because of disobedience to GOD, killing the entire population except eight people, Noah and his family. GENESIS 9.11
(GENESIS 6. 8-9) GOD will Never Cut Off anyone who is Just and Perfect, who Walk with GOD as Noah Walked with GOD.
Just in Hebrew is TSAH’DEEK meaning righteous, living by GOD’S Laws and Statutes through faith in GOD Who is Messiah Yeshua. Thus making that person Perfect in the eyes of GOD. Obedience to Torah, GOD’S Laws that are written in The Law of Moses is of utmost importance in life together with your faith in Messiah Yeshua. It is written.
GOD will Cut Off a Jewish man who is not circumcised. That is disobedience to GOD. GENESIS 17.14, EXODUS 4.24-26, GENESIS 17.10-13, LUKE 2.21
Those who keep GOD’S Sabbath on Saturday, and the Sabbaths of GOD’S Festivals written in Leviticus 23, and keep His Covenant, that is His Word and Law of Moses, will Never Be Cut Off. And their sacrifice of Messiah Yeshua for Atonement will be accepted by The LORD. ISAIAH 56.4-7, PSALM 105.8-10
Pharoah was Cut Off and destroyed because he disobeyed GOD. EXODUS 9.15, EXODUS 14.5-8, 28-30
But those who Fear GOD and keep His Commandments will Never Be Cut Off. PROVERBS 23.17-18
Eating leaven during the seven days of Passover is an act of disobedience to GOD, and a violation of His Law of Moses. EXODUS 12.14-15
Being Cut Off from Israel is a study in itself. But in order to be saved and have eternal life in Messiah Yeshua, one must be joined with Israel and be part of Israel because Yeshua says,
“Salvation is of the Jews.”, John 4.22 Salvation is obtained by doing everything GOD commanded the Jewish people. That includes obeying The Law of Moses together with your faith in Messiah Yeshua.
In the days of the animal sacrifice, not bringing the animal sacrifice to The Temple, but sacrificing it in another place, or today, sacrificing an animal when there is no Temple in Jerusalem is disobedience to GOD, and a violation of His Law. LEVITICUS 17.1-4, 8-9
Thus GOD’S anointing of Messiah Yeshua to be our Sacrifice for the atonement of our sins. DANIEL 9.26, ISAIAH 53.10
The person who continuously and routinely disobeys GOD by violating His Law of Moses, whether that person is Jewish or not, will be Cut Off from his people. NUMBERS 15.29-31
PRESUMPTUOUSLY means being bold in disobedience to GOD, doing wrong.
REPROACHES THE LORD means that person dishonors GOD, lacks belief in The LORD, and disgraces GOD.
Faith in Messiah Yeshua is your Atonement. GOD has forgiven you all your sins. And now The LORD requires you to obey Him, His Law of Moses, that prevents you from sinning against Him. That is repentance. EZEKIEL 18.21, 1 John 3.4
Paul gives a brief study of Gentiles in Messiah joining in with Israel and the Jewish People and receiving the great benefits of GOD. But falling away from GOD’S Laws and Commandments that He gave to the Jewish people to obey, results in being Cut Off. ROMANS 11.16-22
VERSE 16 The lump is the dough of the Showbread in the Temple. The root of the Olive Tree (Israel) is GOD ALMIGHTY, YESHUA THE MESSIAH.
VERSE 17 The branches are symbolic of Jewish People who do not believe in their Messiah Yeshua. The wild olive tree branches are Gentile Believers in the Messiah Yeshua who obey Torah, the Law of Moses that The Lord commands the Jewish People to obey. And those Gentile Believers in Messiah who obey Torah partake in all the blessing, covenants and promises of GOD promised to Israel, including The New Covenant promised in Jeremiah 31.31-34.
VERSE 18 Don’t be foolish thinking yourself better then those Jewish People who don’t believe. GOD supports you. You don’t support GOD.
VERSE 19 You will say then, the branches were broken off that I might be grafted in.
VERSE 20 Correct. Because of unbelief, they were broken off, and you stand by faith. Don’t be highminded, but Fear GOD. (Remember, Faith is Belief in Messiah and Obedience to Torah, The Law of Moses.)
Verse 21 Because if GOD did not spare the natural branches, be very careful lest He will also not spare you.
VERSE 22 is key to our topic. Goodness, as in, if you continue in GOD’S goodness, otherwise you will be Cut Off. Goodness in Greek is CHRESTOTES meaning moral excellence, GOD’S moral excellence. GOD’S moral excellence is being good, upright, righteous, and law-abiding, living by every Word of GOD, and by GOD’S Laws that are written in The Law of Moses. Those who do not continue in GOD’S goodness, His moral excellence, and please listen to Paul’s teaching, and do not obey GOD’S Laws written in The Law of Moses that Israel must obey, those Gentiles will be Cut Off. And Paul’s teaching is correct because it lines up with Torah, The Law of Moses. Leviticus 7. 20-21, Matthew 4.4, Luke 4.4, Matthew 5.17
But so many, so many wrest The Scriptures. They pervert The Scriptures and corrupt The Word of GOD, especially rejecting The Law of Moses. The Law of Moses contains all GOD’S Laws. The Law of Moses is not the personal laws of Moses. The Law of Moses is GOD’S Laws for all humanity. These people who teach you to reject The Law of Moses are doing you no favor because the result is disobedience to GOD and being Cut Off by GOD, and that is Not excommunication. Being Cut Off is death because of disobedience to GOD. Disobedience to His Laws. Life and eternal Life come from obeying GOD and His Law of Moses, along with your Faith in The Messiah Yeshua. And GOD’S Law is not difficult but it takes courage to obey it in the face of so much opposition. 2 PETER 3.14-18
(2PETER 3.14) Being blameless and without spot comes by having your sins forgiven in Yeshua The Messiah, and obeying His Law of Moses. Yeshua is GOD Almighty Who gave The Law to Moses for all the world to obey. EXODUS 25.21-22
(2 PETER 3.17) The wicked are the lawless who reject The Law of Moses, thus rejecting GOD. Beware, Peter cautions, lest the lawless lead you away from your own stedfastness.
(2 PETER 3.18) Learn about GOD Who is Messiah Yeshua. Learn His Word and His Law and do it and choose Life. ACTS 15.21, JOSHUA 1.7, 1 JOHN 5.3
Being born-again is living a new life because your sins are forgiven by your Faith in Messiah Yeshua. He is your Atonement. And you have repented, turning from all your sins of disobeying GOD’S Laws, and you have turned to GOD obeying His Laws and Statutes that are written in The Law of Moses. You are born-again, living a new Life in GOD, in Messiah Yeshua, no longer serving sin. You are like Noah, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, Moses, the Prophets, the Apostles, and Messiah Yeshua Himself, and all the Great Holy Ones of The Bible. That is being born-again, being GODLY and HOLY as GOD commands you. And that is Life and Eternal Life. And you will Never be cut off from your people.
