GOD’S COVENANT, THE TEN COMMANDMENTS

Shalom.

Our teaching from Torah, The Law of Moses will continue from Deuteronomy 4.9-13.

AND THE TITLE OF OUR MESSAGE IS, GOD’S COVENANT, THE TEN COMMANDMENTS,

REMEMBER, GOD’S COVENANT IS HIS WORD THAT IS LAW.  AND THE TEN COMMANDMENTS ARE HIS WORD AND THEY ARE LAW.  GOD’S LAW, THE LAW OF MOSES.  1 CHRONICLES 16.15-17

So with that said, Let’s read Deuteronomy 4.9-13.

DEUTERONOMY 4.9  A clearer translation from The Hebrew reads, Be on guard for yourself, and guard your life very much lest you forget The Words, Commandments, Decrees, and Things which your eyes have seen.  Lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life.  And you shall make them known to your sons and to your son’s sons.

Moses urged The Children of Israel, some three million, to remember The Great Revelation they witnessed at Mount Sinai when The LORD descended upon the Mountain in fire.  And the smoke rose up as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mountain shook violently.

And there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mountain, and The Shofar was loud and all the People in the camp trembled.

And The LORD spoke to The People out of the midst of the fire.  And they heard His Voice, but saw no Shape or Likeness of The LORD.  Only they heard His Voice.

And Moses told the Jewish Nation to testify to their families all that they witnessed, and teach their sons and their son’s sons all that they saw and heard from The LORD.

And as GOD’S Servant and Witnesses, GOD Commanded Those Jewish People to testify of what they had witnessed, and share what they saw and heard with their families.

And The Bible that Jewish People wrote testifies of that great and supernatural event to the world.  ISAIAH 43.10-12

DEUTERONOMY 4.10-12  Moses reminded The People of the day they stood before The LORD Their GOD in Horeb which is Mount Sinai, when The LORD said to Moses, Gather The People together to Me and I will make them hear My Words that they will learn to Fear Me all the days that they will live upon the earth.  And for them to teach their children.

The Hebrew Word for FEAR, when GOD said, I will make them hear My Words that they will learn to FEAR ME all the days that they will live upon the earth, is YAH’RAY meaning To Fear GOD, Revere GOD, be Fearful of GOD, and Afraid of GOD.

When you begin to Fear GOD, You begin to Obey GOD.

Messiah Yeshua said, Do not Fear them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul, but rather Fear Him (GOD ALMIGHTY) Who is able to destroy both body and soul into hell.  MATTHEW 10.28

David writes, O Fear The LORD you His Holy Ones, for there is no want to those who Fear Him.  HEBREW BIBLE PSALM 34.10, CHRISTIAN BIBLE PSALM 34.9

And David writes of the Blessings for Fearing GOD.  HEBREW BIBLE PSALM 34.12-14, CHRISTIAN BIBLE PSALM 34.11-13

(HEBREW BIBLE PSALM 34.13, CHRISTIAN BIBLE PSALM 34.12)  The Hebrew Word for Life in this verse is KHA’YEEM meaning LIFES, (PLURAL).  Life on earth, and Eternal Life in Heaven.

People speak and write Laws.  Then change them, even end them.  GOD Speaks, and His Word becomes Law.  They never change or end.  Yet there are people who try to change or end GOD’S Word and His Laws.  And that is impossible.

Therefore, GOD’S Word and His laws Written in The Old Testament remain the same in The New Testament.  ISAIAH 40.8, 1 PETER 1.25, DEUTERONOMY 4.2

The Ten Commandments in Hebrew are AH’SEH’REHT HA’D’VAH’REEM meaning The Ten Words.

The Ten Commandments, or The Ten Words are GOD’S Everlasting Covenant that never end or change.

And GOD requires all mankind to live by His Ten Commandments.

Every Spoken Word of GOD Written in The Bible is GOD’S Everlasting Covenant.  GOD’S Word is Law for all mankind that never changes or ends.  MATTHEW 4.4, MATTHEW 5.18, LUKE 4.4, LUKE 16.17

The Ten Commandments are also called The Decalogue in Greek, meaning, Ten Words.

The Ten Commandments are not a separate Law unto itself, but fully part of The Law of GOD that is Written in The Law of Moses in the first five Books of The Bible.

Let’s read about that great event when The LORD Gave The Ten Commandments to The Children of Israel and to all the world in EXODUS 19.1-25

Let’s review The Ten Commandments in EXODUS 20

EXODUS 20.1-2  And GOD Spoke all these Words, Saying, I Am The LORD YOUR GOD Who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.

THE FIRST COMMANDMENT.  I AM THE LORD YOUR GOD

GOD identifies Himself to The Children of Israel and to all the world by Name, THE LORD YOUR GOD Who brought you out of Egypt, the land of slavery.

And GOD proceeds to give His People and the world His Words to live by forever.

EXODUS 20.3-6  THE SECOND COMMANDMENT.  YOU SHALL HAVE NO OTHER GODS BEFORE ME.

Canceling out the false doctrine of the trinity that teaches three different gods.

The Jewish People, and all humanity are taught throughout The Bible that there is only One GOD and No Others.  And He is The GOD OF ISRAEL, GOD ALMIGHTY, HA SHEM ELOHIM, MESSIAH YESHUA, THE ONE GOD.

DEUTERONOMY 6.4, MARK 12.29, HEBREW BIBLE ISAIAH 9.5, CHRISTIAN BIBLE ISAIAH 9.6, HEBREW BIBLE MICAH 5.1, CHRISTIAN BIBLE MICAH 5.2, JOHN 12.45, 49, JOHN 14.9

It is possible that the doctrine of the trinity of one god being three different gods was conceived by people who did not believe that One God could create The Heavens and the earth, and control all the wonders, miracles, and judgments that the world experiences every day.

Nor can they believe that GOD ALMIGHTY can be in different places physically all at the same time.  Even calling Himself by different Names; The Father, The Messiah, The Son of GOD, The Spirit of GOD, The Holy Spirit, and Mechizedek.

But GOD tells us plainly, there is Only One GOD, and you shall have no other gods before Me.

WHEN THE JEWISH PEOPLE AND OTHERS SAW THE MESSIAH YESHUA IN ISRAEL FACE TO FACE, THEY WERE LOOKING AT GOD, THE CREATOR OF HEAVEN AND EARTH, THE FATHER, THE MESSIAH, THE SON OF GOD.  THEY WERE LOOKING AT THE SPIRIT, THE HOLY SPIRIT, MELCHIZEDEK,  THE ANGEL OF GOD, THE ANGEL OF THE LORD, THE GLORY, AND SO MUCH MORE.

THERE IS ONLY ONE GOD, AND HE IS THE MIGHTY GOD THAT DELIVERED THE CHILDREN OF ISRAEL OUT OF EGYPTIAN SLAVERY.

THAT IS BIBLICAL TEACHING FROM THE BIBLE.  GENESIS 1.26, GENESIS 19.24, JEREMIAH 23.24, PSALM 110.1, JOHN 17

EXODUS 20.4-6  CONTINUING THE SECOND COMMANDMENT.  IDOLATRY IS FORBIDDEN.

GOD says, You shall not make a graven image.  That is a carved or sculptured idol or image, nor any likeness of anything that is in Heaven above or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the waters under the earth.

You shall not bow down to them, The LORD says, nor serve them, for I THE LORD YOUR GOD AM A JEALOUS GOD visiting the iniquity of the fathers, upon the children to the third and fourth generation of them that hate Me.

And showing mercy to the thousandth generation (forever) to them that love Me and Keep My Commandments.  GOD’S Commandments are His Word and His Law.

FOR ISRAEL, AND ALL WHO OBEY GOD AND KEEP HIS COVENANT, THE LORD YOUR GOD WILL RECIPROCATE YOUR DEVOTION TO GOD AND YOUR OBEDIENCE TO GOD TO THE THOUSANDTH GENERATION.  THAT IS FOREVER.

TO THOSE WHO LOVE ME, GOD SAYS, AND KEEP MY COMMANDMENTS, AND KEEPING GOD’S COMMANDMENTS IS LIVING YOUR LIFE BY EVERY WORD GOD SPEAKS IN THE BIBLE.  THAT INCLUDES HIS TORAH, GOD’S LAW OF MOSES.

AND GOD WILL SHOW YOU HIS MERCY.

DEUTERONOMY 8.3, MATTHEW 4.4, LUKE 4.4, PSALM 105.8-10

Images made for worship, that is physical representations of gods is paganism.

Idols and pictures of The LORD are not permitted by GOD.

The worship of other gods is repugnant to THE LORD GOD.

WORSHIPING ANOTHER GOD ALONGSIDE THE GOD OF CREATION IS REJECTING THE GOD OF CREATION.

EXODUS 20.7  THE THIRD COMMANDMENT.  THE PROHIBITION OF TAKING THE LORD’S NAME IN VAIN.  Just as it is forbidden to show contempt for GOD by making or buying a graven idol, or a picture representing GOD, so it is forbidden to disgrace GOD’S HOLY NAME by using His Name for no valid purpose.

EXODUS 20.8-11  THE FOURTH COMMANDMENT.  THE SABBATH.

Keeping The Sabbath on the seventh day of the week from sundown Friday to sundown Saturday shows your love and devotion to The LORD YOUR GOD.

The seventh day of the week is The Sabbath of The LORD OUR GOD, To Keep It Holy.

In that day, GOD says, You shall not do any work, you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your servants, that would include employees of the Company you may own, nor the non-Jewish Person staying with you, or working for you on your property, or business.

Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is The Sabbath of The LORD YOUR GOD.  For in six days The LORD made The Heavens and earth, the sea and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day, and Hallowed it.

The Sabbath is forever.  ISAIAH 40.8

EXODUS 20.12  THE FIFTH COMMANDMENT.  HONORING YOUR PARENTS.

Honor your father and your mother that your days may be long upon the land which THE LORD YOUR GOD gives you.

The Hebrew Word for HONOR is KAH’BADE.  So I looked up the meaning of HONOR in Webster’s Dictionary.  And Honor means Honesty, Fairness, Integrity, High Respect, High Public Esteem, Sincerity, Look Up To, Appreciate, Value, Cherish, Adore, Reverence, Revere, and Honor.

That is how you Honor your father and your mother that your days may be long upon the land which THE LORD YOUR GOD gives you.

EXODUS 20.13  THE SIXTH COMMANDMENT.  YOU SHALL NOT MURDER.

The Hebrew Word for KILL,  as some Bibles write, You Shall Not Kill, is RAH’STAKH meaning MURDER.  YOU SHALL NOT MURDER.

IN THE HEBREW BIBLE, THE SEVENTH, EIGHTH, AND NINTH COMMANDMENTS ARE ALSO WRITTEN IN VERSE 13.  YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT ADULTERY, YOU SHALL NOT STEAL, AND YOU SHALL NOT BEAR FALSE WITNESS.

IN THE CHRISTIAN BIBLE, EXODUS 20.14 HAS THE SEVENTH COMMANDMENT.  THE PROHIBITION AGAINST ADULTERY.

Adultery is voluntary sexual intercourse between a married person and someone other than his or her lawful husband or wife.

The person who betrays the marital relationship, betrays GOD.

And the person who commits adultery sins against GOD.  GENESIS 20.1-6

IN THE CHRISTIAN BIBLE, EXODUS 20.15 HAS THE EIGHTH COMMANDMENT.  YOU SHALL NOT STEAL.

IN THE CHRISTIAN BIBLE, EXODUS 20.16 HAS THE NINTH COMMANDMENT.  PROHIBITION AGAINST BEARING FALSE WITNESS AGAINST YOUR NEIGHBOR.

This Commandment might be read, You shall not testify a lie to your neighbor, who is anyone you are speaking to.

Messiah explains who your neighbor is in LUKE 10.29-37

THUS THE NINTH COMMANDMENT IS, DO NOT LIE.

IN THE HEBREW BIBLE, EXODUS 20.14 HAS THE TENTH COMMANDMENT, PROHIBITION AGAINST COVETING.

AND IN THE CHRISTIAN BIBLE, EXODUS 20.17 HAS THE TENTH COMMANDMENT.  PROHIBITION AGAINST COVETING.

COVET means, to desire wrongfully, to desire that which is another’s, and without due regard for the rights of others.

So The Tenth Commandment of GOD is, You shall not covet your neighbor’s house, you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his male or female servants, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor’s.

Thus everyone should Sanctify their thoughts and attitudes to the point where you purge yourself of such natural tendencies as jealousy and covetousness.

DEUTERONOMY 4.13  GOD’S Ten Commandments that He wrote on two tables of stone are His Covenant that GOD Commands everyone to Perform.

And I think of the encouraging Words in the Book of Job.  IF THEY OBEY GOD AND SERVE HIM, THEY SHALL SPEND THEIR DAYS IN PROSPERITY, AND THEIR YEARS IN PLEASURES.  JOB 36.11

The Hebrew word for prosperity is TOV, meaning Good.  You will spend your days in good, in everything that is good, when you Obey and Serve The LORD your GOD.

Shalom.
