LET, I PRAY THEE, YOUR MERCIFUL KINDNESS BE FOR MY COMFORT ACCORDING TO YOUR WORD UNTO YOUR SERVANT.

Shalom.

Our teaching this morning will continue from Psalm 119 verses 74-88.

AND THE TITLE OF OUR MESSAGE IS, LET, I PRAY THEE, YOUR MERCIFUL KINDNESS BE FOR MY COMFORT ACCORDING TO YOUR WORD UNTO YOUR SERVANT.

And with that said, let’s read Psalm 119.74-88.

PSALM 119.74  THEY THAT FEAR YOU WILL BE GLAD WHEN THEY SEE ME BECAUSE I HAVE HOPED IN YOUR WORD.

FEAR GOD.  HOW MANY PEOPLE FEAR GOD?

The Hebrew Word for FEAR as in FEARING GOD is YAH’RAY that means AFRAID, FEARFUL, and REVERENT.

And when you FEAR GOD and you are AFRAID and FEARFUL OF GOD, AND REVERENT that is a good thing because you will do what GOD says to do that is Written in The Bible.

Because Fearing GOD and living by every Word that GOD Speaks in The Bible that includes obedience to Torah, The Law of Moses, and you have Faith in Messiah Yeshua for your Atonement results in Deliverance from sin and eternal death.  And you remain Written in GOD’S Book of Life for Eternal Life in Heaven.  DANIEL 12.1-2

So the writer of Psalm 119 writes in verse 74, They that Fear You, (THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY) will be glad when they see me because I have hoped in Your Word.

Those who Fear GOD and Hope in GOD’S Word find joy in being together with others who Fear GOD because it’s like being at a Festival of GOD with joy and happiness.

PSALM 119.75  I KNOW O LORD THAT YOUR JUDGMENTS ARE RIGHT, AND THAT YOU IN FAITHFULNESS HAVE AFFLICTED ME.

GOD’S Judgments are His Decisions and Verdicts that are according to The Law of Moses.  Therefore GOD’S Judgments are Right.

The Hebrew Word for FAITHFULNESS is EH’MU’NAH that means TRUTH.

Therefore in TRUTH according to Torah, The Law of Moses, GOD might Afflict us.  That is, GOD might Correct us with Punishment for whatever sin we have committed that violates any of GOD’S Laws Written in The Law of Moses.

For example, you might have eaten a ham and cheese sandwich that you know is wrong according to GOD’S Food Laws Written in The Law of Moses that says, Do not eat anything from a pig.  And GOD Corrects you with some sort of Punishment so that you will not eat a ham sandwich again or anything that GOD Says Do Not Do, or Do Not Eat.

DEUTERONOMY 14.3, 8

GOD LIVES BY TRUTH.  THE TRUTH IS THAT WHICH GOD HAD MOSES WRITE IN THE LAW OF MOSES.  AND THOSE WHO ARE GODLY LIVE BY THE TRUTH, FOR GOD SAYS, BE HOLY FOR I THE LORD YOUR GOD AM HOLY.

THAT IS BEING HOLY, LIVING YOUR LIFE AS GOD ALMIGHTY LIVES HIS LIFE, BY EVERY WORD THAT GOD SPEAKS IN THE BIBLE.  AND THAT INCLUDES EVERY WORD GOD SPEAKS IN THE LAW OF MOSES.

LEVITICUS 19.1-2, ROMANS 6.22, EPHESIANS 5.25-27, 1 PETER 1.15-16, DEUTERONOMY 8.3, MATTHEW 4.4, LUKE 4.4

AGAIN, BEING HOLY IS LIVING YOUR LIFE ACCORDING TO EVERY WORD GOD SPEAKS IN THE BIBLE, AND THAT INCLUDES LIVING BY EVERY WORD GOD SPEAKS IN TORAH, THE LAW OF MOSES IN THE FIRST FIVE BOOKS OF THE BIBLE.

PSALM 119.76  LET, I PRAY THEE, YOUR MERCIFUL KINDNESS BE FOR MY COMFORT ACCORDING TO YOUR WORD TO YOUR SERVANT.

GOD SAYS, CALL UPON ME AND I WILL ANSWER YOU.  I WILL BE WITH YOU IN TROUBLE.  I WILL DELIVER YOU, AND HONOR YOU.  WITH LONG LIFE WILL I SATISFY YOU AND SHOW YOU MY SALVATION, MY YESHUA.

PSALM 91.15-16

As Children of GOD living by His Written Word in The Bible, we should always ask GOD for His Merciful Kindness to Comfort us in times of trouble, and in times of sadness, and in times of sickness according to His Word Written in The Bible.  And Know and Believe that GOD will comfort you in those difficult times.

King David experienced troubles and sadness in his life just as we do.  And he always went to The LORD for Comfort.  And GOD always answered him, and comforted him.

LET’S READ PSALM 34.

PSALM 119.77 LET YOUR TENDER MERCIES COME UNTO ME THAT I MAY LIVE, FOR YOUR LAW IS MY DELIGHT.

GOD’S Mercies are His Compassion and Tender Love.

And we are privileged to call upon The LORD for His Tender Mercies, His Compassion, and His Tender Love because we delight in The LORD OUR GOD.  And you prove it by living your life according to GOD’S Torah, GOD’S Laws, Teachings, and Instructions that are Written in The Law of Moses.  And GOD will always answer you with His Love and His Tender Mercies.

LET’S READ PSALM 37.22-40.

PSALM 119.78  LET THE PROUD BE ASHAMED FOR THEY DEALT PERVERSELY WITH ME WITHOUT A CAUSE.  BUT I WILL MEDITATE ON YOUR PRECEPTS.

Better than fighting or arguing with someone, or worrying about a person who has wronged you without a cause, Meditate on GOD’S Precepts.  That is, Think Strong on GOD’S Word Written in The Law of Moses.

GOD told Joshua when he was ordained to lead The Children of Israel into the land of Canaan to defeat and conquer the Canaanites, a mighty people, to Meditate on Torah, The Book of The Law, day and night.  JOSHUA 1.1-11

As GOD Promised, The Children of Israel conquered Canaan from a River in Egypt to The Euphrates River that became The Land of Israel.  GENESIS 15.18-21

So the Writer of Psalm 119 writes that the proud who wronged me will be ashamed for his or her lies.  But I will meditate on Torah, The Written Word of GOD in The Law of Moses.  And that always brings comfort.

PSALM 119.79  LET THOSE WHO FEAR YOU TURN TO ME, AND THOSE THAT HAVE KNOWN YOUR TESTIMONIES.

The Word TURN in Hebrew, as in Those who fear You TURN to me, is SHOOV.  The Hebrew Word SHOOV often means to Repent and Return.  But here The Hebrew Word SHOOV means, to REFRESH.

So, for a person who Fears GOD and Obeys every Word GOD Speaks in The Bible, it is Refreshing when we are with others who also Fear GOD and Obey His Word.

Not only is the writer saying, Let those who Fear You Turn to me, but also Those who are Special who Acknowledge GOD and Know that GOD’S Testimonies, The Words that GOD speaks in The Bible are Truth.

Thus the writer says, Come and spend some time with me.  Because where People are who Fear GOD and Know that His Words are Truth, and they Live by GOD’S Testimonies, His Spoken Word, there The Holy Spirit is.  And great things happen when The Holy Spirit is among us.  ACTS 5.32

PSALM 119.80  LET MY HEART BE SOUND IN YOUR STATUTES THAT I AM NOT ASHAMED.

The Word SOUND comes from The Hebrew TAH’MEEM that means PERFECT, TRUTH, WITHOUT BLEMISH, and UPRIGHT.

SO THE WRITER IS SAYING, LET MY HEART BE PERFECT IN YOUR STATUTES THAT I AM NOT ASHAMED.

YOU CLAIM TO BE TAH’MEEM.  YOU CLAIM TO LIVE BY THE TRUTH OF GOD AND HIS UPRIGHTNESS.  YOU ARE A GODLY MAN OR WOMAN.  YOU FOLLOW MESSIAH YESHUA, THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY, HA SHEM.  AND YOU LIVE BY TORAH, GOD’S LAWS AND TEACHINGS THAT ARE WRITTEN IN THE LAW OF MOSES IN THE FIRST FIVE BOOKS OF THE BIBLE.

THEREFORE BE PERFECT IN THE SIGHT OF GOD ALWAYS, WALKING IN HIS STATUTES AND KEEPING HIS COMMANDMENTS AND TEACHINGS SO THAT YOU WILL NEVER BE ASHAMED.

BEING PERFECT IN THE SIGHT OF GOD IS LIVING YOUR LIFE BY EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDS OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD THAT IS WRITTEN IN THE BIBLE.  AND THAT INCLUDES OBEDIENCE TO TORAH, GOD’S LAWS AND TEACHINGS THAT ARE WRITTEN IN THE LAW OF MOSES.  AND HAVING FAITH IN MESSIAH YESHUA FOR YOUR ATONEMENT.

THAT IS BEING PERFECT IN THE EYES OF GOD.

1 KINGS 8.61, MATTHEW 5.48

PSALM 119.81  MY SOUL FAINTS FOR YOUR SALVATION, BUT I HOPE IN YOUR WORD.

Let’s define a few words here.  The Hebrew for FAINTS, as in, my soul FAINTS for your Salvation is KAH’LAH, that means YEARN.  We YEARN for GOD’S Salvation.

SALVATION in Hebrew is T’SHU’AH that means, We YEARN TO BE RESCUED, TO BE DELIVERED, TO BE HELPED, TO BE SAFE.  WE YEARN FOR YOUR SALVATION, and WE YEARN FOR VICTORY.

BUT I HOPE IN YOUR WORD.

And we Yearn for Messiah’s soon Return to be with Him in The 1,000 Year Messianic Kingdom on earth in Israel, and throughout Eternity in Heaven, without problems, without pain, without sorrow, and tears, and without sickness or death.  For in The LORD GOD ALMIGHTY is Everlasting Joy.

ISAIAH 35.10, ISAIAH 65.17-19, REVELATION 21.16-27

And we have our Hope in GOD’S Word that what we Hope for will be given to us.

Thus the Writer writes, My soul faints for Your Salvation, but I hope in Your Word.  I know that everything You Say will come to pass.

PSALM 119.82-87  MY EYES FAIL FOR YOUR WORD, SAYING, WHEN WILL YOU COMFORT ME?  FOR I HAVE BECOME LIKE A BOTTLE IN THE SMOKE.  YET DO I NOT FORGET YOUR STATUTES.

HOW MANY ARE THE DAYS OF YOUR SERVANT?  WHEN WILL YOU EXECUTE JUDGMENT ON THEM THAT PERSECUTE ME?  THE PROUD HAVE DUG PITS FOR ME WHICH ARE NOT AFTER YOUR LAW.

ALL YOUR COMMANDMENTS ARE FAITHFUL.  THEY PERSECUTE ME WRONGFULLY.  HELP ME.  THEY HAD ALMOST CONSUMED ME UPON EARTH, BUT I DID NOT FORSAKE YOUR PRECEPTS.

In verse 83, the writer writes about becoming like a bottle in the smoke.

I understand that in the past, bottles in Israel and throughout the Middle East were made of animal skins.  And if one of those bottles made of animal skins was hung up in the smoke, it became parched and shriveled up, and loses all its strength.  And became unpleasant and unattractive, and useless.

Thus the writer of This Psalm at the time might have felt useless, unattractive and unpleasant from long bodily afflictions and mental distress.

Perhaps some of you can relate.

THE WRITER ALSO WRITES, LORD, WHEN WILL YOU COMFORT ME?  YET I DO NOT FORGET YOUR STATUTES.  I DO NOT FORGET YOUR WORD, YOUR COMMANDMENTS, AND YOUR APPOINTED TIMES.  BECAUSE ALL YOUR COMMANDMENTS ARE FAITHFUL AND TRUE.  HELP ME LORD, FOR I HAVE NOT FORSAKEN YOUR PRECEPTS.

LET’S READ PSALM 91

PSALM 119.88  QUICKEN ME AFTER YOUR LOVING KINDNESS.  SO SHALL I KEEP THE TESTIMONY OF YOUR MOUTH.

GOD ALWAYS REVIVES US.  THAT IS TO SAY, GOD ALWAYS RESTORES OUR LIFE TO US AFTER TROUBLES AND SADNESS, AND AT TIMES ELEVATES US TO A HIGHER PLATEAU.  BECAUSE WE KEEP THE TESTIMONY OF HIS MOUTH.  WE TRUST THE LORD OUR GOD, AND CONTINUE DOING WHAT THE LORD OUR GOD TELLS US TO DO IN THE BIBLE.  AND THAT IS THE FAITH THAT LEADS TO VICTORY IN THIS LIFE AND ETERNAL LIFE IN HEAVEN WITH THE MIGHTY GOD OF LOVE AND MERCIES, AND COMFORT.  BECAUSE THE LORD YOUR GOD LOVES YOU WITH AN EVERLASTING LOVE, AND HE WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU NOR FORSAKE YOU.

Shalom,

Ira Weinstein
