Shalom. Our teaching this morning from The Word of GOD in The Law of Moses that is written in the first five Books of The Bible will come from Leviticus 23.9-14. And The Title of our message is, “WHY WAS MESSIAH YESHUA RESURRECTED FROM THE DEAD TO LIFE AGAIN?”
And with that said, let’s read Leviticus 23.9-14.
LEVITICUS 23.9-10 Our teaching from Leviticus 23 is about the Festivals of The LORD, and GOD’S Laws for His Festivals.
The Festivals of The LORD are the Saturday Sabbath, Passover, The Festival of Shavu’ot, or Weeks, also called Pentecost, The Blowing of Shofars, or as Judaism calls this Festival, Rosh Ha Shannah, The New Year. Followed by Yom Kippur, The Day of Atonement, and Sukkot, The Festival of Tabernacles.
LEVITICUS 23.9-10 The LORD said to Moses, “Speak to the Children Of Israel, and say to them, when you come into the Land which I give to you”. The Land that GOD gave to the Children Of Israel for an everlasting possession is the land of Canaan that is now the Land of Israel.
After the death of Moses, The LORD spoke to Joshua, Moses’ minister and said, Moses My Servant is dead. Now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, you and all the People to the Land which I give to them, even the Children Of Israel.
Everyplace that the sole of your foot treads upon, that have I given to you as I said to Moses. From the wilderness and this Lebanon, to the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and to the great sea, (the Mediterranean Sea), toward the going down of the sun shall be your coast.
There shall not be any man that will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so will I be with you. I will not fail you, nor forsake you. Be strong and of a good courage, for unto this People shall you divide for an inheritance the land which I swore to their fathers to give them.
Only be strong and very courageous that you observe to do according to all the Law which Moses My Servant commanded you and the People. Turn not from it to the right hand or to the left that you may prosper wherever you go.
This book of The Law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night that you observe to do according to all that is written in it.
For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success. Have not I commanded you? Be strong and of a good courage. Do not be afraid, neither be dismayed, for the LORD YOUR GOD is with you wherever you go. JOSHUA 1.1-9
The land of Canaan was west of the Euphrates River, north of Damascus, and up to The Mediterranean Sea. GOD gave Israel all that land. NUMBERS 34.1-12
(VERSE 8) Hamath is north of Damascus.
The Canaanites were the original inhabitants of the land of Canaan prior to Israel’s conquest under Joshua. And Canaan is the land that GOD promised and gave to the Jewish People for an everlasting possession. Everlasting in Hebrew is OLAM meaning forever, and always, without any interruptions.
And The Land Of Israel has been the Jewish Homeland for some 3,325 years that GOD calls a land flowing with milk and honey, the glory of all lands.
GOD first made His Covenant with Abraham to give the land of Canaan to the Jewish People while Abraham and Sarah were living in Canaan. GOD’S Covenant with Abraham is, that GOD will give the land of Canaan to Abraham’s descendants. The descendants of Abraham are through the line of his son Isaac and his grandson Jacob that became the Israelite People who are the Jewish People. GOD’s Covenant with Abraham took place some 790 years before Israel conquered Canaan.
And GOD told Moses at the burning bush at Mt. Horeb which is Mt. Sinai that He would bring the Children Of Israel to the land of Canaan. And He would send an Angel before the People to guard them in the way, and bring them into the land which GOD had prepared. And GOD warned Moses to obey that certain Angel’s Voice because My Name is in Him, The LORD said. That certain Angel was GOD Himself, Ha Shem, Yeshua The Messiah. And do not worship their gods, The LORD told Moses. Have nothing to do with the Canaanites.
And GOD is The Father of the Jewish People. Meaning GOD is Jewish. EXODUS 4.22, EXODUS 5.1
GENESIS 17.7-8, GENESIS 15.13-21, EZEKIEL 20.6, EXODUS 3.8, 16-17, EXODUS 23.20-25, EXODUS 34.11-17, GENESIS 24.1-4, GENESIS 28.5-9
Back to LEVITICUS 23, VERSES 10-11. GOD said to Moses, Speak to the Children Of Israel and say to them, when you come into the land which I give to you, and shall harvest the crops of the land, then you shall bring a sheaf to the Priest. A sheaf in Hebrew is an omer, a bundle of newly harvested barley grain. And the Priest shall wave the bundle of newly harvested grain before The LORD to be accepted for you, for the Jewish People, on the day after the Sabbath. The day after the Sabbath is Sunday. The Priest shall wave it.
The Hebrew word for wave as in the Priest shall wave the bundle of newly harvested grain is NOOF meaning to wave up and down.
I believe the waving up and down of the firstfruits by the Priest before The LORD is prophetic of the Resurrection of The Jewish Messiah Yeshua Who was killed for our atonement on a Thursday. He was in the grave Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and raised from the dead to life again at daybreak on Sunday the day after the Sabbath. MARK 16.9
Also, I believe that the waving of the firstfruits by the Priest before The LORD is also prophetic of the future Resurrection of the Just. That is to say, the Righteous.
I believe that the Resurrection of the Just, those having atonement in Messiah Yeshua according to The Law of Moses, and those Gentiles who have blessed Israel and the Jewish People will be Resurrected. And those who are Alive having atonement in Messiah according to Torah will be Raised all on the same Sunday. And we will be caught up together to meet the LORD in the air to be with Messiah forever. To come with the LORD in the clouds of Heaven with His Mighty Angels to The Messianic Kingdom in Israel that will be as the Garden of Eden for one thousand years, and throughout eternity in Heaven forever.
And I believe the Return of The LORD to establish His Messianic Kingdom in Israel will take place on that same Sunday, the day after the Sabbath. And I am not a prophet. Genesis 12.3, Matthew 25.31-46
LEVITICUS 23.12-13 Special sacrificial offerings were made the day the wave offering was waved up and down by the Priest because of its importance in prophesy. The Resurrection of Messiah, the Resurrection on The Last Day, and the Return of The LORD. JOHN 11.24
The animal sacrifices during the days of the Tabernacle and Temple remind the Jewish People and all mankind of the critical need for Atonement lest those without their sins forgiven will be blotted out of GOD’S Book Of Life. EXODUS 32.33, 1 JOHN 3.4
And Atonement can only be accomplished through Messiah Yeshua. ISAIAH 53.10
LEVITICUS 23.14 My understanding of this verse is this. Leavened bread cannot be eaten during the seven days of Passover until the close of The Festival. Leviticus 23.6. And an offering must be made to The LORD. It is a Statute forever, GOD says.
A sacrificial offering was made to The LORD every day, twice a day. Numbers 28.3-4, 9-10.
Again, we are reminded by The LORD GOD, even without The Temple and the Sacrificial system, all mankind require Atonement for their sins. And sin is breaking The Law of Moses. 1 John 3.4. Atonement is only available by the sacrificial offering of The Messiah Yeshua, Ha Shem in the flesh. Followed by obedience to GOD’S Law Of Moses that prevents us from sinning against The LORD. Isaiah 53.10, Leviticus 17.8-9, and The New Testament.
The Title of our message is, WHY WAS MESSIAH YESHUA RESURRECTED FROM THE DEAD TO LIFE AGAIN?
Messiah Yeshua was resurrected from the dead to life again for a number of reasons. And those reasons are as follows;
To further confirm that Yeshua The Messiah is The Promised Jewish Messiah according to the prophesies of The Resurrection of The Messiah written in TNAKH, The Old Testament Scriptures.
PSALM 16.10 For you will not leave My Soul in hell. Neither will You deliver Your Holy One to see corruption.
Soul in Hebrew is NEHFESH meaning soul and body. In this prophesy, Messiah’s dead body.
GOD raised Messiah, His Holy One, the third day after His death. MATTHEW 16.21
ISAIAH 53.8-10 GOD raised Messiah Yeshua to life again after His Death as prophesied in these Scriptures that speak exclusively of The Jewish Messiah Yeshua.
PSALM 110.1 The LORD said to My LORD, Sit at My Right Hand until I make your enemies your footstool.
After Messiah’s Resurrection, and forty days later, He went up into Heaven, and sat at the Right Hand Of GOD. MARK 16.19, ACTS 1.3
Yeshua asked the Pharisees, “What do you think of Messiah? Whose Son is He?” MATTHEW 22.41-46
The Son, or The Son of GOD is Yeshua The Messiah. And Yeshua The Messiah is HA SHEM, ELOHIM, GOD ALMIGHTY. The LORD Yeshua The Messiah, seeing there is only ONE LORD, is The ONE GOD. He is The Father, The Son, The Messiah, The Spirit, The Holy Spirit, and much more. DEUTERONOMY 6.4,MARK 12.29
Messiah Yeshua is The Son of David because in the flesh, as a human being He descended from The Tribe of Judah from the line of David. MATTHEW 1.1, ISAIAH 9.6. HEBREW BIBLE ISAIAH 9.5
And of course, another Resurrection Prophesy in TNAKH, The Old Testament Scriptures is the wave offering of the Priest waving the firstfruits up and down before The LORD. Leviticus 23.11
Thus The Jewish Messiah Yeshua was Resurrected for added confirmmation That He is The Promised Messiah.
Another reason Messiah was Resurrected to life again is because of our Righteousness and our Hope. Our Hope of being Resurrected from death to Eternal Life.
Righteousness has extraordinary importance in The Bible. Righteousness means that our sins are atoned for in Messiah Yeshua. And GOD’S Torah, His Law of Moses is in our heart, and we obey them. Righteousness also means that we delight in The Law of The LORD. And we are doers of The Law Of The LORD.
Righteousness in Hebrew is STAH’DEEK meaning Just, Justified, Righteous and Lawful. Lawful because we obey Torah, GOD’S Law of Moses.
ACTS 24.14-15 There shall be a Resurrection of the dead, both of the just, and unjust.
Our Resurrection when the time comes from death to eternal life will be because of our Righteousness.
LUKE 14.14 Messiah confirms that the Resurrection is for The Just. Those who believe in Messiah, and live by Torah, His Law of Moses Are The Just, The Righteous, and The Law Abiding.
1 THESSALONIANS 4.13-18 Only The Righteous, The Just who sleep in Messiah Yeshua, who are the dead in Messiah Yeshua will GOD bring with Him.
A person is not Righteous or Just rejecting GOD’S Law of Moses that is written in the first five Books of The Bible. A person is not Righteous or Just rejecting all GOD’S Laws, Teachings and Instructions that are written in The Law Of Moses. A person is not Righteous or Just believing in the trinity of three different gods, each being a different, distinct and separate god. That is paganism.
Those people must repent and turn to THE LORD GOD and obey His Law. And do what GOD says, and not what their pastor says. EZEKIEL 18.21
Here are some Scriptures that teach the meaning of Righteousness, and the blessings for being Righteous. For Messiah says, You shall be repaid at the Resurrection Of The Righteous. LUKE 14.14. PSALM 1.1-6, ISAIAH 51.7, PROVERBS 10.16, 24, 25, 28, MATTHEW 13.41-43, ROMANS 2.13
Thus The Messiah Yeshua was Resurrected from death to life again because of our Righteousness, giving us Hope that we also will be Resurrected to Eternal Life.
Another reason The Messiah Yeshua was Resurrected from death to life again is so for The Messiah to sit on His throne in The Kingdom of GOD. ACTS 2.30, JEREMIAH 23.5-8
And Messiah was Resurrected to deliver His Jewish People from death to eternal life at The Resurrection. To bring them into the Land of Israel into The Messianic Kingdom along with those Gentiles in Messiah who join themselves to The LORD according to Torah. EZEKIEL 37.9-14, ISAIAH 56.6-7, DANIEL 12.1-3, PSALM 17.15, PSALM 49.15, HEBREW BIBLE PSALM 49.16, PSALM 71.20, LUKE 14.14
So in conclusion, the reasons for Messiah’s Resurrection are:
To further confirm that Yeshua The Messiah is the Promised Jewish Messiah according to the prophesies of His Resurrection that are written in TNAKH, The Old Testament Scriptures.
Another reason Messiah was Resurrected from death to life again is because of our Righteousness, and our Hope for our Resurrection to Eternal Life in The Likeness Of GOD.
Another reason for Messiah’s Resurrection is for The Messiah to sit on His throne in The Kingdom of GOD. In the Messianic Kingdom in Israel for a thousand years, and in Heaven forever and ever.
Messiah was Resurrected to deliver His Jewish People and His Gentile People who have joined themselves to The LORD according to Torah, to be Resurrected from death to Eternal Life. Along with those who are alive in Messiah according to Torah. Where GOD will dwell with us, and we will be His People, and GOD HIMSELF will be with us, and be our GOD. And GOD will wipe away all our tears from our eyes. And there will be no more death, neither sorrow nor crying. Neither will there be any more pain, for the former things will have passed away. And The LORD will make all things new.
